We are learning the way of Recovery from many people in our lives. This may include a person we meet at a support group, a therapist, a relative, presentations we have attended, books we have read, and other sources. We learn from our connections to reflect, abstain from unhealthy urges, and forgive people who have harmed us or we have harmed.
We do these extraordinary activities during the ordinary times in our lives. Through ordinary time, we live in the graces of renewing the gifts of Recovery given to us by those we connect with. If we desire to grow in the spiritual life, then prayer, reflection, and meditation are secure paths to travel.
There is no substitute for spiritual connections, readings, and activities. For some of us, Jesus (higher power) is the greatest teacher of Recovery. He taught us to allow his love, peace, and forgiveness to enter our hearts.
