April 30, 2025 Recovery of Hope! Part #18

We need to be flexible in our Recovery of hope. Have we sailed along on our Recovery, and did everything go as outlined in our plan of care? We may need to be adaptable because the therapist we are working with retires, a psychiatrist changes our medication, there is a death in the family, we are let go from a job we were in for thirty years, or other life circumstances.

Pam Sininek, in her talk about a Pilgrimage of Hope, says, “I think when hope is built on a rock, it is easier to make those adjustments in our journey of hope. When we engage, it takes purpose, and I need to have a plan.”

I have a simple plan of care that I follow. These are the goals in my plan:

  1. Managing my symptoms by keeping a journal each day.
  2. Moving closer to God. Making him front and center in my Recovery.
  3. Engaging in pleasurable activities puzzles, family time, reading, and others
  4. Showing compassion and kindness to myself and others

If we are supporting another person with a mental health or substance misuse condition, how can we assist them in developing a plan? What will we do to take care of ourselves?
