I will offer an update about a decrease in one of the medications I take for depression and anxiety. Each day, on a scale from 1 to 10, I note my mood level. 1 = Low and 10 = High. Beginning on February 5, 2025 through today, I averaged 6.9, which shows an increase from when I calculated my mood ending February 4, 2025 at 6.8. The goal of reducing one of my medications was to decrease drowsiness, and the other goal was to free me of severe constipation. Unfortunately, these two goals have not been met, and despite a small increase in my mental health symptoms (this is good), I do feel more on edge, along with irritability.
I will continue to monitor my progress each day to measure how I am doing. I am scheduled to see my psychiatrist in May. I will report to them how I am doing and determine the next steps.
If we are taking medication, noting our level each day is helpful to bring some reason to our evaluation. The psychiatrist likes knowing we are monitoring this. This places them in the best possible position to support us. All you need is a pen or pencil and a small notepad. I do an overall calculation anywhere from 30 to 90 days, depending on when I meet with my psychiatrist and therapist.
I was invited by the Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin Public Library to do a “Booktalk” last evening. My outline for these events is a brief meet-and-greet time. Then, I introduce why I selected the color green and a bandana for the cover. Next, I read the Introduction and Chapter One of my book.
When I completed reading, a lively discussion occurred, which brought me hope. When we do these events, some themes emerge. First the relief some of us feel connecting with people about our lived experience or the experience of a family member or friend. Two, the suffering we have in our lives and the resources that are available to assist us to heal. Three people asked me some pointed questions like, “How has your mental health impacted your physical health”?
If you know of any venues looking for what I have to offer, let them know about my work. I welcome the opportunity to get in front of people to share my journey. The best part is the conversational format that I offer in order for us to reflect and learn from each other. During the upcoming months, I will be speaking to some groups, and I will attempt to keep you in the loop about my experiences.
Thank you for subscribing to my blog. It makes me feel good when I can serve others, and helps me stay on track in my Recovery.
