Due to the upcoming Thanksgiving Holiday, no blogs will be available on November 28th & 29th. There will be no Peer Support Groups on November 28th and December 5th. Our next support group will be on December 12th.
We are more than just a Recoveree or someone who supports a Recoveree we are willing to practice the 12 steps in all of our affairs. Listening to the teachings of healing reminds me of a story. A person comes from a wedding, I love the idea of a wedding, it tells us the person is returning from the combining of souls. The wedding feast is like combining Recovery with a person who desires to heal. This kind of wedding gathering is where two become one.
When we come from this wedding feast we are gathered together and we must be prepared. We have become one with Recovery at that same time we allow people to support us (support group, family, friends, etc.). The key is we have to be ready, to make certain we are ready we have to be prepared. How do we prepare? We learn to love ourselves and other people. Our preparations for healing are the moments of the day when we begin to deeply and profoundly love one another.
In the world of Recovery, there is no other way. There is just us, there are no foreigners, we are all one. The way we prepare to commit to a Recovery lifestyle is by having hope, healing, and health. This is our time of preparation and always preparing because there is no downtime, nor a moment when we are not in love with ourselves and other people.
The best part is loving and preparing, sharing, the caring, when we allow ourselves to be vulnerable. It makes Recovery wonderful as we step into the darkness and on the other end embrace the light. This is our preparation. We recognize our flaws and refrain from harsh judgment toward another person. We can make decisions about how we live our lives, and the way we exhibit love for ourselves and other people.
Recovery teaches us to learn that we were to love our neighbor, our enemies because soon we would have no enemies. This is how we are to live our lives and find healing. When we do this it is so easy to wake up in the morning and truly believe when we say, “Recovery my friend what are we going to do today?”
