October 29, 2024 Loving Others & Ourselves!

Do you know a person who publicly professes strong moral values or beliefs but then acts in a way that contradicts those beliefs, essentially “putting on a facade” of righteousness while privately engaging in behaviors that go against their stated principles; it’s about the disconnect between outward appearance and inner actions, often to gain praise or recognition from others, rather than genuinely living according to their values and beliefs?

Do we focus on finding and speaking about the faults of others? Are we instantly critical of everything and everyone and at the same time remain unaware of our shortcomings? Do we magnify the shortcomings of others? Our shortcomings at its root is a lack of charity toward others. We can fall short of showing basic charity when we criticize people while lacking the self-awareness of our shortcomings.

We are called to love others and ourselves. We want first to evaluate our own lives and then look outward. As we reflect on our lives healing calls each of us to a deeper conversation of heart and mind. In the light of the words of Recovery love extends each day to those we encounter and ourselves.
