July 22, 2024 Steady Is The Pace!

Why do I use stories and imagery when I write our blogs? I have written about seeds and growing. What I want is to reveal to you my journey of Recovery. I accomplish this objective in two ways. First, by writing a daily blog Monday through Friday. Second, publishing a non-fiction book https://superhumanbeing.net/ describing the impact mental health challenges, addiction, and trauma had on my parents and me.

Recovery for us is like scattering grass seed which eventually spouts of its own accord unseen, first as a thin blade then becomes dense making a beautiful meadow. How about a mustard seed? It becomes the largest of plants and grows to shelter the birds of the air to dwell in its shade.

I use common imagery through my writing to communicate the message I want to share. Examples include; a woman joining a religious order, showing compassion to people, influencers in our lives, and the importance of prayer, meditation, and reflection.

When people enter Recovery some of them think this will whip away mental health challenges, addiction, and trauma. The power of healing is in the present moment. The healing grows in secret, slowly, and hidden within us. I find being patient, persistent, and showing love and compassion toward myself are remedies to face the challenges of Recovery.

Recovery wants us to transform ourselves freely, incrementally, and to enjoy the fruits of our labor. Imagine a person speaking to us. What images would he/she use to teach us the power of healing growing silently but with certainty in our environment? This is something to shout about (write this with a smile on my face)!!
