November 30, 2023 A Good Night’s Sleep

Contemplate your journey of recovery during the last month. Think about a moment you experienced the gift of recovery. Next, think about a moment, despite your efforts, when you fell short in your recovery.

An important ingredient in Recovery for me is regular exercise. There are days when I much rather forgo my exercise routine. However, despite my mood, I perform activities that include both weight resistance and cardiovascular exercises.

I fall short in Recovery when I don’t take time to meditate and do individual prayer on a daily basis. I don’t have a consistent routine each day. The end of the day arrives and I realize I forgot to take time to connect with my Recovery. When I practice meditation, prayer, and exercise on a daily basis it helps me manage my mood.

Working on our recovery is accepting when we do well or we fall short in life. Accept both outcomes with grace, and turn them over to our Higher Power. Toward the end of the day, when we are not too sleepy, review our activities of the day. Accept that we did our best just for this day, give it to our Higher Power, and enjoy a good night’s sleep.

Peace

Larry
