I hope wherever you are, you know Recovery is with you right where you are.
When we mourn, we can find comfort in Recovery. Catherine (a fictional person) is remembered as a brave woman in Recovery. She cared for others and loved people with her whole heart.
One of the graces in her life was called the “Gift of Tears.” These tears came as she helped friends in Recovery. They showed her deep compassion and a strong connection to others.
Tears can show a tender and caring heart. They remind us that we can feel deeply. We all have this gift. Tears can even be a kind of prayer or quiet meditation. They speak the language of the soul. Tears can soften our hearts, open us to mercy and forgiveness, and bring healing where there is pain.
Recovery walks with us every step of the way. It stays with us, even in our tears, when we feel alone, lost, or confused.
When I began therapy for past trauma, I cried often. The healing work lasted six months. I held nothing back. I let the pain rise from deep inside me.
I let go of the belief that men should not cry. I learned that tears can heal. Being washed clean of pain is a gift. My tears come from my heart and soul. They help me move beyond thinking and into feeling. They guide me to a deeper place of healing.
In Recovery, the gift of tears can become a trusted friend. They are a voice that helps cleanse and renew us. We must allow Recovery to come close enough to touch our hearts in this way.
What might your tears be trying to tell you today?”
Remember, Recovery is happening right now, in this moment.
