December 19, 2025 “Joy Grows Where Trust Begins!”

I hope wherever you are, you know Recovery is with you right where you are.

Entering Recovery can feel scary. We may not know what to expect. Some of us want proof that it works. Others begin with hope and faith in the journey. Joy grows where trust takes root and fear begins to fade. This joy is much deeper than a quick lift in our emotions.

Joy blossoms when we trust Recovery and allow something good to take root in us. Joy is not a reward that comes after Recovery is proven. It is a gift that flows while we are still doing the work. While questions remain, while prayers and reflections continue, and while outcomes are still unseen, joy is born in the act of trusting Recovery. Joy is a deep confidence that practicing the steps truly works.

Believing does not mean following blindly or ignoring reality. It means choosing to rest our hearts in who Recovery is, not only in what we can see. Faith does not depend on perfect circumstances. It lives in the choice to practice the character of the steps. Faith is active, not passive.

I remember a time when joy felt absent in my early years of Recovery. The pain was intense, and I stepped away from the work. I wanted guarantees that my depression, anxiety, and trauma would disappear. Today, I see that expectation was simply unrealistic. Now I place my trust in Recovery, its promises, and its faithfulness. Joy follows naturally.

Joy begins to rise quietly within us. Recovery invites us to surrender and believe even when the path is unclear. Believing opens our hearts to receive joy and peace through the power of the 12 steps. Choose to trust again, not because you already see the answer, but because you believe Recovery holds the joy you seek.
