November 7, 2025 “Faithful to the Fire of Recovery!”

I pray that you know Recovery is with you—right where you are today.

Recovery is the movement of getting our hearts ready for the spiritual work of healing. But how do we stay faithful to Recovery all our lives? How do we keep growing in our relationships with others?

Remaining faithful to Recovery through the highs and lows of life is how we give energy to our inner spirit. There is a secret to this—

When I first came to Recovery, some of the people who started the journey with me drifted away. It made me think about why I have stayed committed to Recovery for more than thirty years. Along the way, people taught me skills and ways to stay faithful. I continue to work my plan of care without interruption, no matter the season of life.

Prayer or reflection is like a fire. We must tend to it, just as we care for our relationships. The same is true for our relationship with Recovery—we must keep the fire of the 12 Steps alive within us.

Recovery is not about following rules; it’s about living in rhythm. We may think we are working the steps, but are we truly living in the rhythm of Recovery—in prayer, reflection, and presence? Every time we feed that inner fire, we add fuel to the flame of our lives.

So how do we keep the flame from going out? We keep showing up—in our relationships, in support groups, and through the Recovery tools we’ve learned. We don’t have to be perfect in our words or actions.

Here are some simple ways to remain faithful to Recovery:

  1. Recovery keeps us in the present moment—through both the good and the bad times.

  2. Prayer or reflection keeps the presence of Recovery alive in us.

  3. Pray or reflect without ceasing. Stay aware of what Recovery wants to teach us and take action.

  4. Listen more than you speak. Sometimes, Recovery speaks in quiet moments.

  5. Remember—Recovery is a rhythm and action, not a set of rules.

  6. Every prayer or reflection, big or small, adds fuel to our inner fire. Don’t let it go out.

Faithfulness is found in showing up again and again—trusting that Recovery is always with us, guiding us, and lighting our way.

Have a great weekend
