August 15, 2025 “A Sacred Gift on the Shore!”

Walking the shore with the author of the Twelve Steps, we see her clutching them close—a gift, sacred and alive. She tells us they are not born of intellect but inspired by the Divine, shaped by her recovering community in Eau Claire. She chose not a list, but living guidance—truths spoken and lived by recoverees—that lead us to action and surround us with support. The journey, she reminds us, is never complete. As the waves whisper, we realize: we are part of something eternal.

12 Steps

Mental Wellness

  1. We believe that Recovery is possible. With courage and hope, we commit to overcoming the internal and external barriers that stand in our way.
  2. We acknowledge that we are powerless over our condition and trust that a loving spiritual presence will lead us toward true freedom.
  3. We choose actions and practices that nourish our Recovery and reflect our desire to heal.
  4. We share our Recovery Plan with our Higher Power and at least one trusted person, knowing that healing grows in honesty and connection.
  5. We seek wisdom from the Recovery experiences we engage in, understanding that learning expands our capacity to transform.
  6. We surrender to the will of our Higher Power, letting go of self-reliance and walking in faith instead.
  7. We humbly receive the unconditional love and compassion of our Higher Power and those who walk beside us.
  8. We embrace healing through relationships and peer support. We name these people in our Recovery Plan and give thanks for their presence in our lives.
  9. We release shame, guilt, and past shortcomings, knowing we were created to love and be loved.
  10. We remain curious about our mental wellness, making space to grow and adapt as we deepen in our Recovery.
  11. We honor that Recovery is a sacred journey. Through prayer, reflection, imagery, or mindfulness, we seek guidance and strength to take the next right step.
  12. As we listen to the voice of our Higher Power, we gain insight and self-awareness. We live out these spiritual principles, walking beside others on the path to healing.
