April 10, 2025 “Sharing Our Hope With Others” Part #7

Pam Sininek gave a three-part talk during a parish mission last week at my church. She says, “We profess hope, seek hope and sustain/nourish hope. We wait in joyful hope to be with our God (higher power) again. When we draw closer to God, we grow closer to hope. Hope is wonder and to be sought by God.”

Hope is an essential ingredient of our Recovery. Hope is knowing we are loved, and Recovery is with us. Knowing Recovery has prepared a way for us to heal, nothing can separate us from this path.

How do we share our hope with others? Pope Francis says, “Hope is a gift from God and a task for Christians.”

Do we like receiving gifts? I remember as a child picking up a gift under the Christmas tree and shaking it. I deluded myself into thinking I could figure out what was inside the box. Receiving a gift lets us know someone really cares about us. We open it, do we not? A gift is just a bunch of wrapping and maybe a bow unless we open it to find out what is inside.

If hope is a gift we receive during our Recovery we need to open it because inside we will find healing and share it with people. The gift is not only a gift but a task. Pam says, “It is a gift that comes with a job.”

“How we are going to do our job is the next step in tasks given to us by God (Recovery),” says Pam. In part #8, we will learn about the hidden gems of healing that are not original ideas; they come from Recovery.
