December 10, 2024 Coming to the Banquet Part 2!

The will of humanity creates an opportunity for us to recognize the commonality we share. When we are invited to a banquet or wedding it is because we have a relationship with the people who are celebrating their occasion. This celebration is what we have in common with those attending the party. The beauty is the diversity of each of us attending the occasion; old and young, disabled and able-bodied, rich and poor, educated and non-educated, and relatives and non-relatives.

It’s there we are called to come and be fed without money or other external circumstances (disabled and able-bodied is another example). It is at a banquet or wedding we connect as one in common poverty and common hunger for meaning and belonging.

The table of Recovery is the great neutralizer. It calls us as one to the table of plenty. This is not always easy but our Higher Power (Jesus) reminds us of the lessons critical to healing. When we invite people to hospitality and recognize their role with those whom we are celebrating we need it to come from a pure heart not obligation or “What can it do for me”?

We come together in the spirit of community and building relationships. This may include; churches, sports teams, family gatherings, neighborhood parties, senior centers, arts and crafts, support groups, and others. When we gather with people we gather together in a way that changes us. We are called to be one, one is where authentic living takes place. This is important for all humanity and Recovery, to become the best version of ourselves.

Recovery, community, and relationships this is a recipe for our peace and “Peace on Earth”.
