Do we see more light and minimal darkness in our lives? May was Mental Health Awareness Month and has now come to a close. I witnessed and was part of several connections with people bringing this important social issue into the light.
- I was at the Whirlybird Cafe in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin, and two women purchased copies of my book. https://superhumanbeing.net/ We had a conversation about mental health and one of the women wanted to read it and apply what she learned in her work setting.
- Dotters Bookstore in Eau Claire, Wisconsin offered me the opportunity to present my book, read the first chapter, and open up a dialogue with people attending. The richness of their insight and the questions they asked let me know hope is alive to reduce stigma in our community.
- I had a Zoom call with Catherine DiNuzzo, MA Licensed Professional Counselor from Beloit, Kansas. SacredHeartMentalWellness.com She has a passion for helping people with mental health conditions. She is writing, teaching, and doing retreats. She is on fire with a desire to offer practical tools to us and refrain from being overly clinical.
The people I mentioned give us Recovery advice, tools to work with, and business owners willing to open their doors to mental health conditions, addiction, and trauma. We can be guided to the truth from other people. It is not an abstract or remote concept ascending from some unknown place.
The promise of people wanting to guide us is healing. This will put us in union with Recovery. Therapy, psychiatry, support groups, Higher Power, and social activities are reflections of the divine in each of us. Through healing, we acquire a holy love and compassion for other people. We can continue to prepare our hearts and minds to receive the healing people offer us.
Let us rejoice in our divine nature and become a new creation bringing to light the deepest part of our heart, finding peace, joy, and happiness.
