Recovery, the beautiful reality of the 12 steps is that you sacrificed your life so I would be free from the chains of control and death. The 12 steps cemented a way to Recovery so nothing will keep me from healing. Nothing can keep me from Recovery. I want to live in the reality of this great freedom.
It is bold to say, “Nothing can keep me from Recovery.” I must admit I do not always live up to this ideal. I have moments when I allow my pride to overwhelm a conversation I am having with my wife. I leave out God when making a decision. I don’t give the level of support I could with another person in Recovery.
Recovery, your grace has covered my life and set me free to choose my way. My past does not predict my future, nor do my struggles get to direct my life.
