Why do I find support groups like Depressed Anonymous and Peer Recovery vital to managing my mood? It is a place where I can be myself, people don’t judge me, and I discover who God (higher power) designed me to be. I learn about God from having a personal relationship with him. The support groups I participate in are spiritual. The groups are not a religion with a set of dogmas or doctrines.
A relationship with God is leading me to greater hope and healing. When I was in my deepest moments of despair and sadness the effort to climb up a mountain and reach the peak seemed unattainable. The way I escaped my dilemma is joining a group of people, by doing this I gained oxygen to continue ascending until I was able to manage my mood and get out of despair and sadness.
With the support of the groups I attend and growing my personal relationship with God, I have a goal of not allowing my mood to get so low that it impacts my health and well-being.
On Thursday evenings from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m., I facilitate a virtual Peer Recovery Support Group. Consider joining us. You can access the group by going to my website: https://superhumanbeing.net/ At the top of the site you will see a page titled, “Support Groups” Click on it to get direct access to the meeting.
